Complete Unfinished Tasks – C.U.T. Kit

Messy Shot - C.U.T.

Stop leaving projects and tasks half finished.

Nothing saps your energy and dedication like watching that half finished project stare you down and steal your peace of mind.

That project is leering out at you – in that pesky ‘to-do’ list… just waiting to tackle you and suck you in – wasting more time than you can give it, adding frustration and shame to your already too full plate. “I’m terrified to admit that I’m not working on it right now because there are other projects that seem more pressing. I can’t help but worry that they see me as less competent somehow because I had the idea, and I was all excited about it, but didn’t finish it.

Why does this keep happening? Why can’t I finish just one project before I move on to the next?!” Stop not-so-secretly worrying that your spouse, family, and friends will find out you’re wasting time, money, and energy on ANOTHER project.

I wish I could take this project on for you, I really do.

It’s so much simpler to solve someone else’s stumbling blocks and recognize the solution to someone else’s problem – we do it all the time – it’s called ‘work.” It sucks constantly feeling like you’re on the verge of giving up.

“I should be farther – I’ve been working on this damn project forever!”
“what if I’ve actually been moving backwards…?!”

I get it, I’m there about… once a week? Yeah, that feels about right.

I know what it feels like to be fighting back tears as you run across the pile of ‘work’ that’s been left undone. The very thought of it can cause anxiety, leave you feeling stuck, and wondering what the next step is, because each time you sit down to work on it – you only create more work.

It can be terrifying when people start to ask about the project and your progress. All you can think about is the steps that are unfinished and those sneaky little bunny trails that get you lost and distracted each time you sit down. Can’t they see that you’re at your wits end?!?!?!

As someone who’s too smart for her own good and easily distracted and frustrated I crafted a system to get myself back on track and start checking off all of those little projects I had started – instead of hiding them in my ‘to do’ list.

This 4 phase program is for the DIYer.

Breaking down the steps to finish that nagging,
leering project so you can feel relieved and finally be finished.

  • Phase One – Reconnecting To Your Reason
Get clear on why you started the project in the first place. Open ended questions that help you regain the clarity you had months ago (sometimes years) and start refocusing on the project that’s staring you down.
  • Phase Two – Determining The Damage
Now it’s time to flush out what you’ve done so far, being as specific as possible. We humans often get lost in feeling overwhelmed and can’t see our way out of it. This phase helps to clear the fog and see what’s done and not done.
  • Phase Three – Perfecting Priorities
This is one of the most important steps when kicking an old project into high gear and getting back on track. Setting limits, finding your time wasters, and getting ready to DO the project!
  • Phase Four – Making Manageable Momentum
Too often we jump to this last stage and then are surprised when everything we’ve been trying to build falls down around us. This time, you’ll have that pesky ‘to-do’ list prioritized and ready to take on the challenge. Here’s where you really want to be, but it won’t be successful unless you to do the work before hand to get clear on the project as a whole. Crafting bite-sized tasks and the plan you need to tackle this project and get this show on the road.
